When an unidentified body is found in the vault of Malita’s most renowned Sanctuary, the Head of the Church places his trust in Superintendent Lucio Vella’s skills and discretion. Aghast by the gruesome crime scene, Lucio realises that whoever did it carried a deep sense of anger towards the victim.

As more murders are reported, the Superintendent brings on board his most trusted officers to manage the different crime scenes. As they do, they find similarities which brings them to believe the cases are connected.

Lucio finds himself torn between professional and parental responsibilities, with the Church being attacked, suffering one murder after the other, and with his wife about to give birth.

With the help of his team, he manages to find a way through, but will it be enough to catch the killer before the last stroke of midnight?
